Left the free wall just in time for the lock opening.  We are not going far but we do have one more lock/bridge combination to go through.


We followed our looper friends back to the ICW where we all went our separate ways. 

We are heading to the Atlantic Yacht Basin to see if we can leave the boat for a bottom paint job.

The Great Bridge Lock goes up and down by inches only….they are not controlling the water depth but the water flow as salt water flows in and fresh water flows out.

This is a busy area so they only open the bridge every 2 hours and they try to coordinate with the lock.

We got tied up along this quiet stretch of river  This will be home for a while, waiting our turn to get hauled out and have the bottom painted and the running gear sealed.

We have decided to rent a car and go visit the kids….take a break, reset health insurance and time in the US.  Leaving May 1st and returning May 12th.

Our first time going through Coinjock, a stop at their dock and diner at their restaurant. House specialty is Prime Rib that Richard enjoyed and I had the Ribeye….it was very nice.   Richard and Thérèse’s boating adventure has come to an end and what an adventure it has been. Red Rover has been sold and will be heading to her new home in Halifax.  ~~~~~~ We are moving into a condo in downtown Stouffville in close proximity to our children and grandchildren.  We look forward to what comes next.  Thank you for following along;  we have enjoyed your comments and questions.

Bahamas, Green Turtle Cay

  We left Titusville Marina on January 6th….beautiful cruising day, lots of dolphins 🐬  We anchored out by Pelican Island for the night… Docked into Fort Pierce Marina for two nights waiting for high winds to pass before moving on.  A nerve racking 15 minutes of “seek immediate shelter tornado warnings in the area” alarms on our phones…scary, but it passed us without incident. Onto West Palm Beach…. Beautiful area, impressive homes….Stupid money 🤑.  We are anchored for the night and set for a 5am departure for our crossing to the Bahamas, West End on Grand Bahamas Island. We arrived by noon….no pictures of our crossing as I spent most of it drugged and below decks feeling green 🤢.  It wasn’t a bad crossing, just a little rolly.  Many boats pulled in after us that day as it was the only weather window permitting the crossing in a while. We spent 4 nights here, pinned down by high winds and rough seas.  It is a very nice area, so we make the best of it. Calm weather on Monday the 15th
