Montreal, Quebec
We left before 6:00 this morning…we have no locks and it’s not too far of a run but the possible 3 knot current on the St Lawrence has us being cautious.
Once we make the turn into the St Lawrence at Sorel Tracy we leave the Richelieu river behind and enter a very industrial area.
The current increases as we approach Montreal.
Passing under the Jacques Cartier Bridge, we can see the Olympic Stadium on one side and La Ronde on the other.
Passing the clock tower and into the old port of Montreal for a 3 night slip reservation.
This is our view of the old port from the back deck and from our port side the Cirque du Soleil tents on the neighbouring pier. First on our agenda was to head over and purchase tickets for the Saturday night performance.
Our friends on Miracle are having windless issues, looks like their buddy boats are there for moral support.
We enjoyed walking the old cobble streets, taking in the sights and sounds of that old world charm…..
And tastes…..
The Notre Dame Basilica with the statue of Maisonneuve in the adjacent park. Two days of wondering the streets and my feet are killing me, so home for a rest before our Cirque performance on Saturday night.
All the cirque shows are launched here first before they go on tour worldwide….we loved it…this one called Echo.
Sunday Richard washes his boat, I do the windows, scrub the fenders and do the laundry…..weather finally clears so I spend some time on the back deck with a great book. Monday morning we head into the St Lawrence and we’ll traverse 2 huge commercial locks before we can enter the Ottawa River.
