Ottawa

 No rush this morning, we don’t have far to go.

Ferry crossing

Château Montebello

We anchored below 24 Sussex for lunch.

Our approach to the flight of 8 locks with the Château Laurier.

Parliament Hill from the Ottawa River.

We docked at the blue line for the night, after locking staff has gone home for the day.  We are first in line for the 10am locking.

We took a walk up the hill to check things out.

We are 3 boats locking up this morning,….took about 2 hours to get us up to the top.  Lot’s of spectators as these lock are a Unesco World site and draws a lot of attention from tourists and school groups.  Up 79 feet.

We cruise over to the Rideau Canal wall for 3 nights.

After dinner stroll along the canal.

Tour of the Royal Canadian Mint with our friend Jackie Dionne.

Then shopping and lunch at Byward Market.

Then drinks aboard Red Rover and dinner out with friends Karen and Jake Wardill…..what a great day with friends.

On our last day we walked to the Canadian war museum…it is very well done and we really enjoyed it.

~~~~~~
Tomorrow we move on, down the Rideau Canal that will eventually bring us to Kingston.
