Turf to Surf

  May 8th to 21st….sorry, I’m behind on my blogs ☹️ Back onboard and heading north after a heart warming visit with our children and grandchildren. 2 Days with Lori, Dan and Vivienne…too sweet for words. and 2 days with Frank, Victoria and Atlas….😘😍 We anchored out by Kingston…the river got nice and still. Docked in Coxsackie for 2 nights with our friends Beth and Doug on Boomerang;  nice to catch up with them. One lock in Troy, then we make the turn onto the Mohawk River and our first overnight in Waterford. The Erie Canal System starts here and opened the day before we arrived.  We stayed 2 nights, hoping logs and debris would clear out before we began our transit. 3 days, 28 locks dodging debris to finally arrive in Oswego….we pushed it a little as conditions on Lake Ontario look good for tomorrow. Drinks with fellow boats and an early night for a tired crew. We have decided to take the time to explore the 1,000 islands before heading home….squeezing in one more must...

We travelled on and off with a group of Loopers, early mornings and long days;  taking advantage of good weather windows. Waves, swells and tides during this section are some of the most worrisome….and 🤢 for the admiral. Sunrises and sunsets….just doesn’t get old. Our little Vivienne was born 2 weeks early….Mom and babe doing fine.  Grandparents….overjoyed!!!  The news arrived on WhatsApp….technology. We crossed NYC in heavy fog following 2 friends. We are now docked at Half Moon bay marina just north of the city on the Hudson River.  Staying 2 weeks here; boat projects, touring the area and driving home to enjoy the grandkids. Rented a car for the trip home…shopping and a stop at a nearby dam…lovely. Drove one hour north for a walk over the Hudson….great views of this beautiful area. Then onto dinner at the Culinary Institute of America where students practice their skill in 3 different restaurants.  We chose French cuisine in The Bocuse restaurant.  Our ...

  Yup…New Adventures await us…..Loved every minute!!!  We have listed her with the broker who sold her to us, Gerry Zidner.  You can see her listing on boat dealers.ca.  We are back onboard  after our trip north. We had a nice trip back to Canada 🇨🇦…Lori and Dan’s baby shower had a great turn out…fun visit with my sister Louise and cousin Joanne….cloudy eclipse and celebrated our 41st wedding anniversary. Fellow Loopers taking our picture as they go by the marina while we were away.  Back on the move…..we left Wacca Wache marina in SC on April 13th….waiting for high winds to calm.  4 long days on the move and 4 nights at anchor leave us well positioned to cross the Albemarle Sound and weather conditions are perfect. Our first time going through Coinjock, a stop at their dock and diner at their restaurant. House specialty is Prime Rib that Richard enjoyed and I had the Ribeye….it was very nice.
