We are going to need a boat

Richard retires on June 1st and St Andrews East Golf Club is going to want the superintendent’s house back.  We are going to be homeless….. NO pressure.

What style, size, budget, what options;  needs, wants, must haves, with no boat ownership experience the whole thing is quite overwhelming and stressful.  We were thinking of spending more on this boat than our family home in Newmarket.  When we started looking a few years ago we loved the power catamarans, stable and roomy with lots of extra sleeping space for all those grandkids that we didn’t even have yet (we have one now, Atlas was born January 23rd). Then we thought maybe the trawler, with better fuel consumption and great stability.  But “oh look at these Motor Yachts”…..beautiful living space but more “rolly”.  Did I mention I get seasick? 🤢

And round and round we went going from one style to an other until Covid.  Price of used boats went up and up as inventory became more and more limited.  Seems to be a thing for Richard and I, always selling low and buying high….I keep telling him we are lucky in love.  

We head to Florida in December of 2021, armed with our list of wants and must haves hoping to buy, move on board and start our Great Loop. It was not to be…we came home to an endless Canadian winter. 🥶

I love the saying ‘things happen for a reason”, looks like we may have found our perfect Loop boat right in our backyard…….to be continued.

  Yup…New Adventures await us…..Loved every minute!!!  We have listed her with the broker who sold her to us, Gerry Zidner.  You can see her listing on boat dealers.ca.  We are back onboard  after our trip north. We had a nice trip back to Canada 🇨🇦…Lori and Dan’s baby shower had a great turn out…fun visit with my sister Louise and cousin Joanne….cloudy eclipse and celebrated our 41st wedding anniversary. Our first time going through Coinjock, a stop at their dock and diner at their restaurant. House specialty is Prime Rib that Richard enjoyed and I had the Ribeye….it was very nice.   Richard and Thérèse’s boating adventure has come to an end and what an adventure it has been. Red Rover has been sold and will be heading to her new home in Halifax.  ~~~~~~ We are moving into a condo in downtown Stouffville in close proximity to our children and grandchildren.  We look forward to what comes next.  Thank you for following along;  we have enjoyed your comments and questions.

Bahamas, Green Turtle Cay

  We left Titusville Marina on January 6th….beautiful cruising day, lots of dolphins 🐬  We anchored out by Pelican Island for the night… Docked into Fort Pierce Marina for two nights waiting for high winds to pass before moving on.  A nerve racking 15 minutes of “seek immediate shelter tornado warnings in the area” alarms on our phones…scary, but it passed us without incident. Onto West Palm Beach…. Beautiful area, impressive homes….Stupid money 🤑.  We are anchored for the night and set for a 5am departure for our crossing to the Bahamas, West End on Grand Bahamas Island. We arrived by noon….no pictures of our crossing as I spent most of it drugged and below decks feeling green 🤢.  It wasn’t a bad crossing, just a little rolly.  Many boats pulled in after us that day as it was the only weather window permitting the crossing in a while. We spent 4 nights here, pinned down by high winds and rough seas.  It is a very nice area, so we make the best of it. Calm weather on Monday the 15th
