 Our approach from Hammond Indiana to Chicago Illinois. We had a beautiful morning and left early. 


While in Hammond we enjoyed the company of these wonderful loopers. Jack and Vickie aboard Sojourn and Ken and Donna aboard Islay Mist;  we hope our paths will cross again soon. 


Just under 2 hours and we are docked in the heart of this beautiful city. What a thrill…


We had booked a 12.30 architectural boat tour through downtown and it was a bit of a walk so we headed out on foot. 


We loved it…...the narrator was very informative and tried to make it fun. Richard said he also enjoyed it but I could tell he was mostly thinking of navigating his boat through those same channels in the morning. Here come the pictures….










After our cruise we found a picturesque pizza spot along the river. Great thin crust pizza…


Nice stroll along the river walk…



And the money shot….lights over the harbour with the city in the background. We leave first thing in the morning, through the city on the Chicago river under multiple bridges and into locks.

Enjoy tomorrow’s cruise. The cruise through Chicago was definitely one of the highlights of our Great Loop Adventure.

  Yup…New Adventures await us…..Loved every minute!!!  We have listed her with the broker who sold her to us, Gerry Zidner.  You can see her listing on boat dealers.ca.  We are back onboard  after our trip north. We had a nice trip back to Canada 🇨🇦…Lori and Dan’s baby shower had a great turn out…fun visit with my sister Louise and cousin Joanne….cloudy eclipse and celebrated our 41st wedding anniversary. Our first time going through Coinjock, a stop at their dock and diner at their restaurant. House specialty is Prime Rib that Richard enjoyed and I had the Ribeye….it was very nice.   Richard and Thérèse’s boating adventure has come to an end and what an adventure it has been. Red Rover has been sold and will be heading to her new home in Halifax.  ~~~~~~ We are moving into a condo in downtown Stouffville in close proximity to our children and grandchildren.  We look forward to what comes next.  Thank you for following along;  we have enjoyed your comments and questions.

Bahamas, Green Turtle Cay

  We left Titusville Marina on January 6th….beautiful cruising day, lots of dolphins 🐬  We anchored out by Pelican Island for the night… Docked into Fort Pierce Marina for two nights waiting for high winds to pass before moving on.  A nerve racking 15 minutes of “seek immediate shelter tornado warnings in the area” alarms on our phones…scary, but it passed us without incident. Onto West Palm Beach…. Beautiful area, impressive homes….Stupid money 🤑.  We are anchored for the night and set for a 5am departure for our crossing to the Bahamas, West End on Grand Bahamas Island. We arrived by noon….no pictures of our crossing as I spent most of it drugged and below decks feeling green 🤢.  It wasn’t a bad crossing, just a little rolly.  Many boats pulled in after us that day as it was the only weather window permitting the crossing in a while. We spent 4 nights here, pinned down by high winds and rough seas.  It is a very nice area, so we make the best of it. Calm weather on Monday the 15th
