Back to the USA

Feb 27th…..yes, I am behind in my blog πŸ˜…, sorry…. Beautiful weather for our first day of travel in 6 weeks….goodbye Green Turtle Cay, it was lovely πŸ₯°

We anchor behind Mangrove Cay after a 9 hour run.  It’s in the middle of nowhere but weather is fine so no worries.  We actually had 2 sailboats join us for the night.

Next day, we arrive in West End early to rest and get ready to cross to the mainland of Florida in the morning.

We saw so many of these during our crossing, the first few you discount as maybe garbage/plastic but after a while you realize they are too numerous and consistent in shape and colour…hey google!?

Turns out they are Portuguese Man of War, google pic…pretty neat creatures.

Great crossing, we left at 7am and arrived just past 2 in the afternoon to get anchored in Lake worth.

Unfortunately, we were unable to clear customs on our app and were asked/ordered to present ourselves to the nearest customs and immigrations office.  Lucky for us, there was one just across the anchorage and the kind dock master at the municipal docks allowed us to tie up and walk over.  It took just over an hour, but we got all our paperwork in order and cleared to proceed. πŸ˜…

We anchored twice on our way to Titusville, first in Vero…..

and the second night by Merritt Island.

We spend 3 nights in Titusville, did some shopping and visiting with my brother and his wife…always a great time.

That’s a gator visiting the marina….

Even took in a maned launch going to the space station.

Took 3 days to get to Jacksonville;  we anchored by Daytona and then just passed St Augustine.

The fort at St Augustine

Beautiful sailing tour boat.

We were surprised to see this big cruise ship on the ICW.

Fellow Looper on Mahalo was kind enough to send us drone photos he took of Red Rover….pretty cool 😎

We turned off the ICW and onto the St Johns River and headed into Jacksonville.  The upper St Johns is wide, deep and very commercial.

We got tucked in at Port 32 marina for 2 nights on March 8th in Jacksonville.  Time to fill πŸ’¦, empty πŸ’© and πŸ›’.  Pricy, but worth it…..very nice marina.

~~~~~~
We are getting ready to take a side trip up the St Johns River.
